There is a magnificent statue of the virgin goddess Artemis, one of many names for the Great Goddess, she represents the nurturer and giver of life to all that lives. But she is Virgo in the sense that she is self-possessed, her own person. In early mythology, from which we inherit the figure of the Virgin Goddess, before the Hellene invasion from the north into the agricultural civilizations of the Aegean in around 2000 B.C.. The goddess did not owe her powers or her status to a divine husband as we see her in later mythology. She ruled alone, self-contained, single, yet offering her femininity freely as she chose. There are many identities represented by the constellation Virgo, all of them related to maidens, purity and fertility. In India, Virgo was Kauni, mother of the great god Krishna, while the Babylonians linked her with the goddess Ishtar. When she descended into the underworld to reclaim her husband, Tammuz, god of the Harvest, the earth went dark and nothing grew. The great gods were forced to intervene, she and Tammuz were saved, and the earth bloomed again.

The first week of the month starts on Wednesday the 1st. As we go into the weekend, mental ability and communication are highlighted. It will be easier to generate ideas, and creativity is enhanced. One may also notice that people are more talkative. Saturday brings compassion and inspiration. Many will be looking for escape and relaxation through movies and other forms of entertainment.

Venus enters the sign of the Scorpion on Wednesday the 8th. Later on this same day, Jupiter goes into Aries. Midweek would be a good time for pursuing new ideas as imagination is enhanced. Many will be wanting to simplify and just take it easy, while others are seeking the unusual, pursuing new ideas, or attracted to the mystical.

Sunday the 12th through Wednesday many may feel drawn to the darker or mysterious side of things. It is easier at this time to do research and find needed information. This would also be a perfect time to find things that have gone missing, or even solve a mystery. Mercury goes direct at 4:01 P.M. MST. Pluto stations retrograde at 02 Capricorn on the 13th. Mars enters the constellation of Scorpio on the 14th. Starting on Saturday and lasting through next week, we are likely to notice more goodwill, generosity and independence. This would also be a good time for making decisions and/or planning and executing career moves. Mars and Pluto working together intensify confidence and can also heighten our psychic awareness.

On Tuesday the 21st, take care not to overdo. People are likely to be more overindulgent, wasteful, and could tend to exaggerate. This would also not be a good time to ask for anything important. We may notice more feelings of rebelliousness in ourselves as well as others. Expect the unexpected. Many could find it hard to come up with ideas and inspiration. People in general may be at odds with each other, or situations. It would be a good idea to find something to help you relax and/or to occupy your mind until things improve on Thursday. The Sun moves into Libra on the 22nd. Friday through Sunday, things could seem artificial, repetitive, and/or senseless. It could be hard to go deeper, to get beneath the surface.
